Lego Batman

It’s rather surprising just how popular LEGO Batman has gotten, although we probably shouldn’t be shocked. It’s spawned some of the best-selling games in the LEGO franchise, and now it’s getting a movie.

Not a theatrical release on the big screen, mind you, but a DVD/Blu-ray production that actually features talent borrowed from the DC Animated Universe.

Warner Home Video will bring LEGO Batman: The Movie to shelves on 2013, and despite the name, it features plenty of other DC Superheroes, including Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and the Flash.

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, the game the movie’s based on, has been a strong standout in 2012, still making it into the top 10 list last month in NPD’s sales ratings.

(EGM reviews chief Ray Carsillo liked it, too, giving the game a high 9.5 out of 10 rating.)

Judging by the trailer below, it’s going to sell quite handsomely for parents looking to entertain their kids. We’re not so crazy about the portrayal Batman. It’s not angry and gravely enough. That, or it needs more Kevin Conroy.
