Square Enix has revealed a fourth continent for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII which will offer an open-world experience similar to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Spokespeople from the publisher confirmed the fourth continent at a Lightning Returns press conference in Japan. The game includes four continents in total, Luxerion, The Dead Dunes, Yusnaan, and The Wildlands. Luxerion and Yusnaan are both cities, in the former you will take part in “Detective” and “Tracking” quests, and in the latter you will run into Snow. The Dead Dunes is a vast desert area hiding “ruins and relics.”

Finally there’s The Wildlands, which is described as a “vast open-world area” similar to Skyrim, according to Gematsu. Chocobos will be used to traverse this new continent.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is set to release February 11 in North America and February 14 in Europe for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
