The Legend of Zelda

There are no game developers more adorable than the Nintendo team, as the latest interview with Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto and series producer Eiji Aonuma proves.

Game Informer fired a barrage of silly questions at the two creators, and got a host of silly answers in return. Among them, and perhaps the most ridiculous, is the reveal of Link’s last name: Link.

To be clear, that doesn’t make Link a single name celebrity like Cher or Madonna. No, the green-clad Hylian’s name is literally Link Link, placing his name more in the realm of Internet meme Moon Moon than any real-life celebrity singers. He’s also following in the footsteps of another famous Nintendo duo: the Mario brothers, Mario Mario and Luigi Mario.

Of course, as Miyamoto quickly explained, laughing, “Link is not human,” and so his name doesn’t need to subscribe to human naming conventions.

Link Link is scheduled to make his next big appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which releases on the Nintendo Switch and Wii U on March 3rd.

Link’s full name is officially ‘Link Link’

Link's parents must really hate him.
