THE BUZZ: Warner Bros. Interactive has announced that the next expansion pack for Lord of the Rings Online, titled Riders of Rohan, will release this fall.

The expansion will open up the plains of Rohan, granting access to areas such as Amon Hen and Fangorn Forest. A level cap increase will also be implemented along with the introduction of the mounted combat system.

EGM’s TAKE: That’s a lot of new content for a free update and should keep fans happy. Rohan is said to be twice the size of the recently released Rise of Isengard expansion and will include a number of new game systems. Recently controversy hit the game when a new Cash Shop was announced allowing players to purchase stat based items to help lower level characters, as fans thought that this could potentially lead to players buying there way to the top. Luckily the developers quickly came out and promised that no high end gear would ever be available via the shop. So a massive content update for completely free, means that it’s a good time to be a LotR Online player.
