The remastered version of Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 includes a level that was once thought lost forever after it was cut from the game’s original release.
The Hidden Palace Zone was originally planned to show Sonic’s transformation into Super Sonic after collecting the seven Chaos Emeralds, but was scrapped midway through the game’s development. The unfinished level was later discovered in a prototype version of the game that was distributed as a ROM file.
