Lost Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Level Included in Remastered Edition

Posted on December 12, 2013 AT 05:29am

The remastered version of Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 includes a level that was once thought lost forever after it was cut from the game’s original release.

The Hidden Palace Zone was originally planned to show Sonic’s transformation into Super Sonic after collecting the seven Chaos Emeralds, but was scrapped midway through the game’s development. The unfinished level was later discovered in a prototype version of the game that was distributed as a ROM file.

The Android version of Sonic 2 with the added level is available now from the Google Play store for $2.99. An update for the iOS version is also available.
