If you were following updates about Lunar: Silver Star Story‘s mobile-tuned re-release last year, you were probably at least a little disappointed when it seemed to be canceled. However, the iOS port is still alive.

Touch Arcade reports that developer SoMoGa—a mobile developer focused solely on ports of older RPG titles—announced that Lunar: Silver Star Story will hit the App Store this week.

No iTunes page for the game has appeared just yet, but there is an official (yet surprisingly bare-bones) website for the game that’s nonetheless a little lacking on information.

Florida-based SoMoGa is an oddity among mobile developers, with few updates on their online outlets. Game Arts still owns the trademark and licensing rights to the Lunar series, but they haven’t made any announcements, either.

SoMoGa’s last release for the App Store was Vay, an iOS port of the original 1993/1994 Sega-CD title.

We’ll be curiously refreshing our iPhone’s App Store tabs during the rest of the week. Hopefully, the announcement isn’t some cruel misunderstanding on our part, and we’ll be looking at a faithful port of a fantastic RPG classic.
