EA Sports is kicking off a month full of Madden NFL 19 player rating reveals by announcing the members of this year’s 99 Club, which is over twice as big as last year’s title at launch.
Seven players will have perfect overall ratings off 99 when Madden NFL 19 launches in a little over a month, compared to three players in last year’s iteration of the annual football series.
All three players in last year’s 99 Club—New England Patriots QB Tom Brady, Denver Broncos OLB Von Miller, and Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald (who played DE last year)—have retained their perfect overall ratings, but now they’ve got company.
Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown, Carolina Panthers LB Luke Kuechly, and New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski have all been bumped up to the 99 Club after barely missing the cut last year. Rodgers, Kuechly, and Gronkowski all scored overall ratings of 98 last year, while Brown leapfrogged Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones to go from 97 to 99, similar to how Brown recently beat out Jones in the NFL Network’s Top 100 list. Interestingly, both Kuechly and Rodgers are coming off of injury-laden seasons, but that didn’t stop EA Sports from promoting them to the 99 Club.
Madden NFL 19 will be rolling out the rest of its ratings throughout July in the lead-up to its release. Rookie ratings will debut on July 2nd, followed by all player ratings on July 9th and Madden Ultimate Team ratings (including Hall of Fame Edition cover athlete Terrell Owens) on July 23rd. We’re also still waiting to see who makes the cover of this year’s standard edition. Our guess is Von Miller, mostly since offensive players have been disproportionately represented over the last decade or so.
Madden NFL 19 launches for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on August 10th.
