Five-time Super Bowl champion, four-time Super Bowl MVP, and one-time “Make America Great Again” hat owner Tom Brady will be gracing the cover of Madden NFL 18.
As if it wasn’t enough that Brady is married to supermodel Gisele Bündchen and has won more division titles with a single team than any other quarterback, the New England Patriots quarterback will now have the distinction of being the Madden cover athlete featured on the first game in the series to switch over to the Frostbite engine.
In addition to offering some glimpses of in-game footage, the first teaser trailer also hints that EA Sports is bringing a full story mode in the vein of The Journey from FIFA 17—the first game in that series to make the jump to Frostbite—to Madden NFL 18.
In addition to its latest cover athlete, EA also announced that there will be two versions of the game available: a standard edition and the G.O.A.T. Edition, both of which are already available for pre-order.
“Fans who pre-order the standard edition will receive numerous benefits, including the choice of an Elite player from their favorite NFL team for use in Madden NFL 18 Ultimate Team, as well as five Squad Packs, redeemable at launch,” according to the press release accompanying the announcement.
In addition to these benefits, those who pre-order the G.O.A.T. Edition will get to choose one of five G.O.A.T. players for use on their Madden Ultimate Team, plus access to the full game on August 22nd, three days ahead of the official release date.
Furthermore, EA Access members will also get to play the full game for up to 10 hours starting on August 17th.
Madden NFL 18 will be available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 worldwide on August 25th, when the Madden curse will butt heads with the hubris of the 12-time Pro Bowl quarterback.
