EA Sports released Madden NFL 18‘s first title update, so now all those hard hits and big plays will look much lusher and more colorful.
That’s because the first title update will add high dynamic range (HDR) support for gamers with HDR-ready setups. Now that AstroTurf will really look green.
One of the major changes to Madden 18‘s gameplay is that block sheds will be most effective against Gun Inside Zone run plays, which have been notoriously difficult to defend against. Additionally, quarterbacks can no longer simply sit back in the pocket while the offensive line acts like a brick wall, as the pass rush will increase the longer the QB holds onto the ball.
As far as offense goes, ball carrier special moves also got a nerf, making them less effective at breaking tackles. Nothing on the offensive side was buffed.
Other tweaks include making players and characters on the sidelines react to big plays with more enthusiasm and also stopping coaches from appearing in the middle of the field when restarting Madden Ultimate Team challenges.
Online head-to-head match times have been increased from four to five minutes, and rewards have been corrected for MUT Squads players whose teammates drop out of the session early.
As far as team fixes go, an issue where the Pittsburgh Steelers’ yellow Terrible Towels were appearing as black or grey has been fixed, and the Chargers/Giants matchup in week 5 of Franchise mode — where the home-away teams were switched — has also been fixed. On top of that, the preseason schedules for Madden 18‘s new mode, Play Now LIVE, were recording incorrectly and have now been fixed.
Madden NFL 18 is now available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
