A representative from EA Sports has confirmed Madden NFL 25 won’t be released on Wii U.
In a statement issued to Nintendo World Report, a representative from EA said, “We will not be releasing a Wii U version of Madden NFL in 2013. However, we have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future.”
While my opinions of the Nintendo Wii U are tepid at best (that is to say, I don’t feel there’s very much reason to purchase the system right now), and I am the furthest thing from a sports game fan, I do think that Madden would work pretty well on Wii U. The GamePad lends itself to a super convenient way to examine and pick plays independent from the main screen. Seems like a pretty easy way to rope in Nintendo’s latest gimmick without it feeling tacked on.
Madden NFL 25 blitzes PS3 and Xbox 360 August 27.
