Wizards of the Coast has released the debut gameplay trailer for Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013.

It is due to release this summer on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, Steam and iPad. The game’s main features:

  • Players Face a Greater Challenge – Magic’s ultimate evil mastermind, the dragon Planeswalker Nicol Bolas!
  • 10 Fresh Decks
  • Multiplayer Game Mode – Planechase
  • Fresh Puzzle Challenges
  • Optional Manual Mana Tapping
  • Integration between the digital and paper product offering – Duels of the Planeswalkers players get the first look at cards from the upcoming Magic 2013 Core Set releasing this summer

I’ve never been a fan of the paper version of Magic the Gathering, but the downloadable version really caught my imagination. It’s fun, easy to pick up and offers plenty for both new and established players. 2012 pretty much had the main game mechanics down to a tee so I don’t expect much to have changed in that respect. This new Planechase game type sounds interesting though and I look forward to finding out more about it.

What decks would you like to see added to the game?
