Paradox Interactive has opened the doors to its free-to-play spell-slinging PvP game Magicka: Wizard Wars.

The game was originally available in beta form via Steam Early Access, but now the developer is letting more players jump in with an open beta. Wizard Wars takes the key elements of Magicka and modifies them to fit a two to eight player PvP setting.

Anyone can now download the game for free via Steam Early Access, but Starter Packs are available for those who wish to throw a little money Paradox’s way. The packs range from $14.99 to $49.99 and include new robes, weapons, and bonus in-game currency.

To celebrate the start of open beta, the developer has added a new 4vs4 map set in Galdrhöll Halls, a new spell that can raise the dead, and new ways to customize your wizard.
