BioWare’s next entry in the Mass Effect series will see the return of the Mako, an all-terrain vehicle that was used to traverse the surface of planets back in the original Mass Effect, the developer revealed at San Diego Comic-Con.
According to a recap of BioWare’s panel by The Escapist, producer Mike Gamble revealed that the next game will focus heavily on exploration, and that the Mako will be heavily customizable due to players having to spend a lot of time in it while exploring planets. Some concept footage of the Mako on an ice planet was also shown off during the panel. You can skip to 1:10 in the video below to check it out.
For those worried about the Mako’s return, Gamble added that things have changed since its first iteration. “We’re playing around with a bunch of different physics for the Mako. The thing that we have to do is make sure it is as responsive as possible,” he said. “We’ve learned a thing or two over the years.”
The developer also shared images of a few armor designs for both the male and female versions of the lead character.
The next Mass Effect title still doesn’t have a release window, but it was indicated by Gamble during the panel that it is still years away from launch.
