Mario Golf: World Tour will boast online multiplayer, score-based tournaments, and a community feature akin to Mario Kart 7’s, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced during this morning’s Nintendo Direct.

“This game will also use the community feature that so many of you have used in Mario Kart 7, that will allow you to connect and play with like-minded players or create and recruit players to communities based on particular themes,” Iwata said.

World Tour will have local and online multiplayer with the online multiplayer letting players select conditions for matches—such as traditional golf rules—or schedule tournaments so that players “all over the world” can participate.

The online multiplayer will also allow real-time and asynchronous tournaments through scoreboards.

Mario Kart: World Tour is set to release on 3DS sometime this summer.
