Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land May Be Headed For Nintendo eShop

While the timing’s curious, it seems that Nintendo is bringing both Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land to the Nintendo eShop. It may not be region-wide, though, as the information hints at a European exclusive.
Gaming forum user “3DSGuy” at GBAtemp, who claims to regularly scan the server where Nintendo stores their eShop titles, says that he recently found references to both games:
Well I was running my weekly scan of Nintendo’s CDN (the server where Nintendo hosts eShop Titles), and the EUR version of Mario Kart 7′s title ID was added, sometime between now and last thursday.
UPDATE: The EUR version of Super Mario 3D Land is on the CDN [as well]. I’m so excited
Both games debuted last year (November and December 2011) across all regions, so it’s strange that Nintendo is just now prepping each title for a digital download.
Each game sold very well for itself, but Nintendo’s been dipping its toes into the DLC waters with the 3DS, getting limited results with major releases. Nintendo of Japan tried the digital route with New Super Mario Bros. 2 earlier this year, but only saw it contribute to roughly five percent of the title’s total sales.
