During Nintendo’s special E3 2013 edition of their Direct presentation, president and CEO Satoru Iwata announced the next installment of the Mario Kart series is coming to Wii U Spring 2014.
According to Iwata, Mario Kart 8 will feature anti-gravity tracks that the karts stay attached to courtesy of magnetized wheels. This allows the tracks to rotate sideways and upside down. Mario Kart 8 will also add transforming karts into the mix, such as hang gliders that grow out of th machines when making long, high jumps.
Mario Kart 8 marks the series’ debut on the Wii U. The last entry was 2011′s Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS.
