Mario Kart

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is over a year old at this point, but it’s still getting updates.

Nintendo recently shared a video starring Shinya Takahashi, Nintendo’s head of software development. In it, he recapped some of the most recent news we’ve heard from Nintendo, and revealed a bit more that we didn’t know.

Specifically, he touched on the recent update to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that made the game compatible with Nintendo’s recent Nintendo Labo Toy-Con Motorbike. By building the motorbike, players are able to lean, steer, and use the cardboard motorbike to drive their bikes and karts in-game.

At the end of that demonstration, though, Takahashi added a bit more.

“There will be further updates for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, so please look forward to it,” he said.

Before the update that enabled Toy-Con Motorbike support, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe hadn’t been updated since December 2017. With future updates in the works, the game may hold some future surprises yet.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is currently out exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
