During Nintendo’s financial results meeting held today in Japan, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata confirmed that Mario Kart 8 will be available for Nintendo Wii U at some point during May.

Mario Kart 8 was first announced during E3 last year. The game’s latest trailer, released in December last year, showed off several of the game’s tracks, including Sunshine Airport, which features both runway and terminal sections, a track set in a jungle, one in a desert, and one that sees racers turned into their baby versions.

Nintendo has confirmed that May is a global release window.
