Nintendo-themed attractions are coming to Universal Studios Orlando and Hollywood.
Originally announced for Universal Studios Japan earlier this year, Nintendo’s revealed that the plans have expanded, with content now scheduled to appear in Osaka, Florida, and California.
“Imagine the fun of stepping into a larger-than-life Nintendo adventure,” a press release reads. “Gigantic Piranha Plants spring to life. Question blocks, power-ups and more surround you. And Mario and all his friends are there to pull you into a brand-new world.”
The press release adds that the goal of the new themed areas will be to have guests “feel as if they are playing inside their favorite games,” with “something for everyone?regardless of their age or gaming experience level.”
“We are constantly amazed how the park developers are bringing the essence of our games to life in the real world,” Nintendo boss Shigeru Miyamoto said in an announcement video. “Together, we are building it with an eye for what guests will actually experience.”
Each of the areas in the parks will be developed separately, and will open one at a time over the next few years as development finishes up. According to the press release, the plans and creative work are already “well underway.”
“Since we’re really bringing the world to life, I think Mario will feel like he finally came home,” Miyamoto concluded.
