A brief trailer on Marvel’s YouTube page has teased the addition of the Avengers to Disney Infinity.
The clip, entitled “Get Ready to Assemble,” features shots of Captain America’s shield ricocheting past familiar characters like Pirates of the Caribbean‘s Captain Jack Sparrow, The Incredibles‘ Dash and Mr. Incredible, Monsters Inc.‘s Mike and Sully, and Toy Story‘s Buzz Lightyear, followed by the fairly cut-and-dry tagline, “Bring on the Super Heroes,” and the Disney Infinity logo. A similarly coy video description reads, “The possibilities are…infinite.”
At this moment, the biggest mystery is the “2.0 edition” tag that’s been appended to the logo. There are several possibilities as to what that might mean, including a free content update to the game, a paid DLC expansion, a PlayStation 4/Xbox One port, a brand new retail version of the game, an updated Infinity Base peripheral, or some combination of the above options.
Still, there’s little room for doubt that Marvel superheroes are headed to Infinity in the near future, and they’re bringing some other upgrades along with them. Of course, that also brings up another important question: Now that Disney has started using Infinity to crossover its different properties, could the company’s other high-profile acquisition, Star Wars, be that far behind? Do we dare to dream that one day Mickey Mouse, Iron Man, and Yoda will be hanging out in the same videogame?
