If you’re going to get the full enjoyment out of your second (or third) run through Mass Effect 3 with the new “Extended Cut” DLC, get ready to invest some more time into the multiplayer, whether you want to or not.
Since last week, the Mass Effect 3 Datapad app has been suffering from connection issues for several iPhone and iPad users, with the free game unable to access EA’s servers. While the Alliance News, Media, and Codex features of the app still work just fine, the Mail and Galaxy at War features won’t properly update when prompted, citing that they require an Internet connection—even if you’re comfortably connected to a local network.
Not having access to the Mass Effect 3 Datapad‘s Galaxy at War game means that if your “Galactic Readiness” rating has dipped since you last played ME3, you’ll have increase your war assets the hard way.
That means you’ll need to spend a handful of hours grinding through missions in ME3‘s multiplayer mode, and good luck not getting booted from a decent mission if you’re under-leveled.
According to the forum boards, EA and BioWare are aware of the problem and seem to be “investigating” it right now. Here’s hoping it’s fixed sooner rather than later for those of us who won’t want to do anything but the single-player portion of the game.
