Commander Shepard is the ruthless and practical kind of science fiction hero who will work with anyone to fight the Reapers: Vorcha, Krogan, even the Geth. But things are apparently going to be a little weirder in Mass Effect 3‘s upcoming “Leviathan” DLC, which has been confirmed by some knowledgeable inside talent.

Initially tagged as a mere rumor due to some not-so-well-hidden source code in the “Extended Cut” DLC, Eurogamer now reports that the Leviathan DLC is real. And it’s probably fantastic.

In an interview with voice actor Anthony Skordi, Eurogamer has learned that the UK talent (who hilariously has the Reaper’s name misspelled in his very own IMDB profile) will be voicing the titular synthetic goliath, which can actually join Shepard’s forces in the galatic war:

The add-on, set before Mass Effect 3’s ending, will centre on a traitorous Reaper named Leviathan.

Leviathan has been separated from the rest of the Reaper forces after killing one of its own kind.

Shepard meets Skordi’s character after being sent to rescue scientist Ann Brynson. She’s being held at the Reaper-indoctrinated mining facility that Leviathan controls.

Aside from the new content, the storyline will reportedly give more insight to the history and background of the Reapers. Based on the gameplay elements of Mass Effect 3, we can assume that this new mission will allow you to enlist the rogue Reaper as a War Asset, as part of the Galaxy at War metagame feature.
