THE BUZZ: EA has sold around 890,000 copies of Mass Effect 3 during the game’s first 24 hours of availability in the U.S.
Speaking at the Wedbush Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference in New York (via VentureBeat), EA CEO John Riccitiello said he was feeling “awfully good” about the launch.
“We anticipated it doing well, so we’re happy,” he said. It was also revealed that 40 percent of all people who purchased the game from GameStop also purchased a Mass Effect 3 DLC code.

EGM’s TAKE: Let’s face it, we all knew that Mass Effect 3 was going to sell a lot of copies, so this is no surprise. The game is simply epic and is a fantastic end to this superb trilogy. The sad word in all that though is “end,” Mass Effect 3 is the end of the battle for Earth and the fight against the Reapers. What direction will EA take the series in next? We still have quite a wait before we find out.
