THE BUZZ: EA has revealed a new Mass Effect game for iOS titled Mass Effect: Infiltrator.
Infiltrator is said to be a full-featured iOS third-person shooter, featuring, ”stunning graphics and authentic weapons and powers from the Mass Effect series.” The game will see players freeing prisoners from a Cerberus base, with achievements granting rewards in Mass Effect 3.
“Every completed rescue and intelligence discovery in Infiltrator will increase a player’s Galactic Readiness rating directly through the ‘Galaxy at War’ system in Mass Effect 3,” said the publisher.
No release date was mentioned, nor if the title would come to Android.
EGM’s TAKE: So this is the Mass Effect mobile experience that EA has been teasing us with. It sounds pretty impressive on paper but will it hold up once it gets to iOS? The idea of doing a fully fledged Mass Effect shooter on such a device is a major undertaking, especially when you consider that it needs to be released before Mass Effect 3 comes out next month to be worthwhile. If EA misses that boat then don’t expect the app to do well, as most people will buy it for its Mass Effect 3 links.
