EGM’s TAKE: The development team has managed to implement the precision of a first person shooter into a third person game, thanks to a mix of cinematic events and the use of Max’s ever dependable bullet time. From the trailer it’s clear to see that a lot of effort has been put into making combat as fluid as possible. The addition of Max re-positioning his body depending on the angle of the shot is a fantastic design choice and ensures that the character never gets in the way of your view line. Dual wielding also makes a triumphant return to the series, allowing you to carry any array of shotguns, pistols and SMGs, with some combinations tearing through enemies like they were made of paper. Finally, as an added bonus to bullet time, now when Max hits the floor he can swivel around and roll 360 degrees to shoot from any angle without the need to wait to regain a vertical base, which is crucial in the fast paced shootouts that the game is famous for.
