A new video has been released for Mass Effect: Andromeda, focusing on Ryder’s angaran squadmate, Jaal.

Part of the IGN First video series on BioWare’s soon-to-release space RPG, the Jaal video is jam-packed with new content. It doesn’t take long to see that there’s more to the character than just his radical space monocle.

“Jaal is a very cards-on-the-table, heart-on-the-sleeve kind of guy,” writer Cathleen Rootsaert said. “So that can make your interactions with him very fun and interesting.”

Part of the angaran resistance, Jaal has seen his share of battle, and has the scars to prove it. The angara have been slow to trust any new races to Andromeda after going to war with the keht, so it appears that Ryder will have his (or her) work cut out to convince Jaal that humans are trustworthy.

Mass Effect: Andromeda launches on March 21st for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
