Mega Man 11 gets release date, new amiibo

Capcom has finally announced when Mega Man fans will be able to jump into Mega Man 11, as well as several bonuses for those that preorder it.

Mega Man 11 will launch on October 2nd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Exclusive to the Switch version will be two different bundles for Japan and North America, both with a new Mega Man 11–themed amiibo. As seen in the image below, the GameStop-exclusive North American bundle will come with the amiibo, a copy of the game, a stage select cloth, Dr. Wily patch, and a sticker pack.

Capcom also revealed on its website that preordering the game through Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store, the Switch eShop, or Steam will grant access to an alternate in-game soundtrack, which will let players experience the eight different stages with piano arrangements of the themes. According to PlayStation’s blog post on the reveal, fans that go through the PlayStation Store will also receive a new dynamic Mega Man theme for their console.

Within the preorder trailer, which you can see below, Capcom also revealed a new system that was previously teased by Game Informer. In the upcoming game, Mega Man will be able to use the Double Gear system to trigger a Power Gear, Speed Gear, or even both at once. The Power option will grant the Blue Bomber more powerful charged shots, while the Speed buff will briefly slow down time.

Fans were also given a peek at two of the upcoming Robot Masters—Block Man and Fuse Man. It appears Mega Man’s Double Gear techniques will help him defeat the bosses, as Fuse Man’s lightning-fast speed can be slowed down with the Speed Gear and the Power Gear will be able to blast through Block Man’s giant form.

Mega Man 11 launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 2nd.
