Metal Gear Solid

Hollywood producer Avi Arad has discussed the video game movie adaptations that he is involved in, stating that both the Metal Gear Solid and Mass Effect movies are still only in the early stages of production.

Arad expects the Metal Gear Solid adaptation, which was announced last year, is still in the very early stages and he expects it to take around three years to complete. “If you go to Metal Gear Solid, it’s actually full of storytelling,” he told Kotaku. “I always look at The Bible as a storyteller and operas with special attention to relationships and here, you have Cain and Abel, Ying and Yang like Double Dragon.”

He expects the Mass Effect movie to take even longer to complete. “It’s a big idea, that we, humans, are the least developed, the least trusted, it’s an interesting mirror image of our world, we are the aliens now,” Arad said. “Love the project, it’s getting there, it’s been a lot of work; some movies take five, six years before they’re ready.”
