Viz Media have announced that Metal Gear Solid: Guns Of The Patriots, a new novel by the late Japanese sci-fi author Keikaku “Project” Itoh, will be released on June 19.

Published by Viz’s Haiasoru imprint, the book is a novelization of the 2009 game, though as Haikasoru editor Nick Mamatas, says in the announcement, “Guns is far more than simply a prose version of the videogame; it goes into great detail in its explorations of the characters and of the plot’s connection to previous games, realistically filling out the world of Metal Gear Solid.”

The book also features an essay by the game’s director, and Itoh’s friend, Hideo Kojima, who previously dedicated the game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker to Itoh’s memory.

Metal Gear Solid: Guns Of The Patriots will retail for $15.99.
