Pokemon Go

Earlier today, Pokémon Go players in Japan battled against and captured the legendary Pokémon Mewtwo at the Pokémon GO Stadium event. Later this month, players around the world will get the chance to get their own Mewtwo in a new type of raid battle.

In the coming weeks, new Exclusive Raid Battles will begin popping up around the world. These are similar to normal raid battles, but players will have to be invited to take part in them.

“To receive an invitation to participate in an Exclusive Raid Battle, Trainers must have successfully completed a raid recently, by defeating the Raid Boss, at the Gym where the Exclusive Raid Battle will be taking place,” developer Niantic explains. “The invitations will include advance warning of when the Exclusive Raid will take place, giving them ample time to coordinate with other Trainers before taking on the powerful Raid Boss.”

Niantic also teased that “other powerful Pokémon may also start to hatch from the Raid Eggs found at Exclusive Raid Battles over the next several weeks.”

As well as the release of Mewtwo, the developer is also giving players another chance to catch Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Lugia. All four legendary birds will be appear in raid battles between now and August 31st.

Pokémon Go is available now as a free download on iOS and Android.
