Ubisoft has announced that Micheal Fassbender, star of X-Men: First Class and Prometheus, will appear in and co-produce the movie adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.
Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Paris-based Ubisoft Motion Pictures, told Variety that the actor was the company’s first choice for the leading role. It’s still not clear who the lead character will actually be. “Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile, and committed actor,” he said.
Ubisoft is developing the film independently to ensure it retains creative control. It has also mentioned a desire to bring both Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell to the big screen.
