THE BUZZ: In a flurry of announcements, Microsoft has unveiled new details for Forza Motorsport 4. Fans can look forward to driving on the famed Indy Speedway, and will have the opportunity to save some money by purchasing a Season Pass for the DLC.
Perhaps most appealing to car fans, the Season Pass allows enthusiasts to save 30 percent on the first six DLC packs, which will release between November 2011 and April 2012. Each of the six packs will include 10 new cars, for a whopping additional 60 cars to enhance your stable. Additionally, those who purchase the Season Pass will immediately receive an exclusive bonus American Muscle car pack, featuring some of the hottest Detroit steel to ever cruise Route 66. The American Muscle pack includes the following beasts:
- 1965 Pontiac GTO
- 1968 Pontiac Firebird
- 1970 Buick GSX
- 1970 Dodge Cornet Super Bee
- 1966 Chevrolet Nova SS
- 1969 Shelby GT500 428CJ
- 1971 Plymouth GTX 426 Hemi
- 1967 Dodge Cornet W023
- 1968 Dodge Dart HEMI Super Stock
- 1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt
Fans can purchase the Season Pass with the American Muscle pack on Xbox Live starting on launch day, October 11 in the US, and October 14 in the UK and Europe, for 2400 Microsoft Points ($30).
In the same announcement, Microsoft gives a sneak peak at one of the most iconic racetracks in the world, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Home of the Indianapolis 500, the Indy Speedway epitomizes American racing, and the team at Turn 10 went all out to capture every detail, including the legendary Brickyard, the Pagoda building and Gasoline Alley. An upcoming entry in the Making of Forza Motorsport 4 documentary series will outline the history of Speedway and show how Turn 10 worked to bring it to digital life.
Finally, those interested in taking the game for a spin before its official launch can download the demo, starting October 3 for Xbox Live Gold members and October 7 for everyone else.
EGM’s TAKE: We love the Forza franchise, muscle cars and saving money, so the Season Pass is a no-brainer for us. Plus, the inclusion on Indy gives us the warm fuzzies. Most exciting, though, is the lengths it seems Turn 10 went to in order to make Forza 4 a true advancement of the series. Let’s hope all that effort pays off.
