Following numerous rumors yesterday, Microsoft has officially unveiled a new tablet device known as Surface.

The device features an ultra-thin keyboard built into its screen cover, HD rear and front facing cameras, and a built in kickstand. There’s also a USB port and 10.6 inch ClearType HD screen. It’ll be available in a Windows RT and a Windows 8 Pro model. The former will be available with the launch of Windows 8, while the latter will follow 90 days later.

No release date or price was offered during the conference, but it is expected to be competitive with other ARM tablets. Here are the full specs for both models:

Windows RT model

  • OS: Windows RT
  • Light(1): 676 g
  • Thin(2): 9.3 mm
  • Clear: 10.6″ ClearType HD display
  • Energized: 31.5 W-h
  • Connected: microSD, USB 2.0, Micro HD video, 2×2 MIMO antennae
  • Productive: Office ’15’ Apps, touch cover, type cover
  • Practical: VaporMg case & stand
  • Configurable: 32 GB, 64 GB

Windows 8 Pro model

  • OS: Windows 8 Pro
  • Light(1): 903 g
  • Thin(2): 13.5 mm
  • Clear: 10.6″ ClearType full HD display
