THE BUZZ: Want your Xbox Avatar to have a sweet Gears of War Lancer, or other gun-based avatar props? You might want to hurry up and buy them soon.

The following was posted on the official Epic forums by Will Kinsler, the community manager at Epic:

Heads up! Starting on Jan. 1, 2012, the Lancer and Hammerburst avatar items will no longer be available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. If you’ve purchased the items prior to Jan. 1, you will be able to keep them. A new policy goes into effect for all gun-like avatar items on the Marketplace, so get them while they’re hot.

EGM’s TAKE: So… Microsoft will happily sell me video games with guns in them, TV shows with guns in them, movies with guns in them, and even DLC packs that are nothing but add-on guns, but my cute Xbox Avatar having a gun is now going too far? I really don’t understand the world sometimes.
