Microsoft Confirms Change in Gamerscore for XBLA Releases

THE BUZZ: Earlier today, we brought you a rumor about Microsoft raising the Gamerscore limit for Xbox Live Arcade releases. Now we’ve got confirmation on that story.
EGM’s TAKE: From the beginning of the Xbox 360, Microsoft set two limits for Xbox releases: Full retail games could have up to 1,000 Gamerscore, and XBLA games up to 200.
Times are different now, and we now exist in a world where players have 50,000+ gamerscore—those 200 points from XBLA releases is just a tiny drop in that bucket. So, to no doubt adjust for Gamerscore inflation, Microsoft is indeed increasing the limit for XBLA title—and Major Nelson brought confirmation of this just a bit ago:
Starting next month (April 2012) all new Xbox LIVE Arcade games will have the option to increase from 200 to 400 Gamerscore points, with the addition of up to 30 Achievements. Even better, this Gamerscore increase will be required in all new Xbox LIVE Arcade games starting in June 2012.
Are you glad to see the Gamerscore you receive from Xbox Live Arcade games increase from 200 to 400? Let us know in the comments below!
