The video had all the hallmarks of being official: a Halo: Waypoint start and a 343 Industries watermark, so there was no way to tell it was fake. At the end of the video the date November 21, 2012 was displayed beneath the Halo 4 logo, leading many to believe that this was the game’s official release date.
Microsoft has since confirmed the video fake, telling the Examiner: ”This video is a fake and we have not yet announced the launch date for Halo 4. Please stay tuned for more information.”
EGM’s TAKE: We have to be honest, if we didn’t know that the video was fake we would have been fooled too. Someone went to a lot of trouble creating this, so some kudos must be offered for effort. But still, tricking lots of innocent Halo fans? Shame on you! You can check out the video below for yourself and see why people were so easily fooled.
