Microsoft details two upcoming Xbox One updates, first arriving February 11

Posted on February 5, 2014 AT 06:45am

Microsoft is preparing to roll out two major updates for the Xbox One that will improve the system’s overall usability and make some requested changes to the console’s party and multiplayer systems.

The first update will arrive February 11 and makes several ”behind-the-scenes updates” for developers as well as improving Kinect voice commands and increasing overall system stability. The update also includes a heavily requested feature: the ability to see how much storage space is being used by games and apps. Once the update is installed, users will be able to control the order in which content installs, watch updates as they progress, and organize games and apps in separate lists. Additionally, the update places a battery power indicator on the home screen (above) for active controllers.

The second update will release on March 4 in anticipation of Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall and includes ”many new features and improvements, most significantly to [Xbox One's] party and multiplayer systems,” according to Microsoft.

Titanfall is set to release on March 11 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
