Microsoft Drops Price of Kinect

Have you been thinking about getting one of them weird space-age camera thingies for your Xbox 360 game-playing box? If so, then you’ll now be paying less money.
Well, I should say, you’ll be able to do so depending on where you live.
Xbox Live’s Larry Hryb today announced that Microsoft has dropped the price of the standard Kinect package to $109.99 here in the good old US of A. Permanent price drops will also be coming to all of North America, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific regions that have Kinect, along with Australia and New Zealand getting a similar price drop come October 4th.
Live in Europe or Japan? Well—too bad for you! I find the lack of a price drop for Japan especially funny, given how much the Kinect bombed there. Maybe they’re getting no price drop due to the fact that, last time I was over in the country, most retailers were already discounting the Kinect far cheaper than the standard price point to try to move units.
Also—$109? That’s such a bizarre price to drop it to. Why not just go down to $99, a price that would be perceived far better by consumers.
