Microsoft: Majority Of Xbox Live Subscriptions Brought At Retail
Posted on September 2, 2011 AT 12:00am

Microsoft has today revealed that around two thirds of Xbox Live subscriptions are brought at retail.
The company told MCV that they are working on a number of ways in which to share digital revenue with stores, however they also mentioned that they will not be following Sony in offering digital versions of games on the same day as their retail release as its not fair on stores.
Xbox Live Marketing Manager for EMEA Robin Burrowes said;
“There are no plans in terms of that kind of day and date parity,”
“We are very respectful of the retail environment, in that we have a window between the release of a retail game and the digital one. There’s no immediate plans to change that.”
“We are introducing new digital tokens and are working very closely with retailers. 68 percent of Europe’s Xbox Live subscription acquisitions come from retail.”
