Microsoft Perma-Banning Anyone Caught Playing Halo 4 Via Xbox Live

If you’re one of the few Xbox 360 players that managed to get a leaked copy of Halo 4, you may be extremely likely to get banned. Microsoft is taking a close look at Xbox Live profiles for signs of “pre-release” play.

As Reddit member Storm360 noted in a post on the website’s “r/gaming” section, Microsoft is issuing permanent bans to anyone with Halo 4 gameplay in their profile history.

Microsoft and 343 Industries have been investigating the leak with much scrutiny since proof of it started to show up on forums boards and Xbox Live profiles last week.

Leaks are common for “triple-A” titles like Halo 4, and it’s also familiar territory for the Halo franchise in general—Halo 3 was infamously leaked well before its release date, getting into the hands of thousands and thousands of players.
