Microsoft Points Phased Out for Cash in Windows 8
Posted on October 8, 2012 AT 05:47am

Windows 8 will allow users to pay for game, movie, and music content with real-money instead of using Microsoft Points like it did in the beta. Could this signal the beginning of Points being phased out?
According to The Verge, Microsoft’s new Operating System allows users to pay via a credit card for purchases made inside the OS, the option to use Points is still there, but the default is now real-money values. At the moment Xbox Live will continue to use Microsoft Points, but this could be the start of a universal phase out of the system.
Several reports have suggested that Microsoft will drop the use of Microsoft Points from Xbox Live by the end of 2012.
