Microsoft has confirmed that Microsoft Points are to remain the main currency of Xbox Live despite a switch to real-money transactions in Windows 8.
Speculation regarding a switch began yesterday when it was revealed that users can now use cash to purchase game, music, and video content in the soon to be released Windows 8 operating system. The company told CVG in a statement that Microsoft Points “continue to be the currency for purchasing content for the Xbox 360 console.”
Of course this doesn’t rule out a possible change in the future.
