If you’ve been a victim of strange death animations and otherwise broken gameplay elements in Fez, a recently released patch “fixed” the problem—by corrupting your save file. Now, that patch is offline until Polytron can fix it.

That’s the official word from the official Polytron website, as the developers have confirmed that the dangerous patch is out of the Xbox Live.

How long it’s going to take to fix is anyone’s guess, but the team says that they have to get it done in less than two months regardless. Either way, the options available to new users aren’t so great: either deal with the glitches and issues in the vanilla Fez release, or remain stuck with a patch that might delete your precious game time.

As Polytron quips: “YAY GAME DEVELOPMENT!”
