Microsoft to Offer Xbox Games and Xbox Live for Smartphones and Tablets

THE BUZZ: Microsoft is planning on making Xbox 360 games available for smartphones in the near future, in conjunction with the release of Windows 8.
The company will be unveiling a brand new online service for smartphones next year, alongside several versions of their new operating system for PC, tablets and smartphones. This new service will allow users to carry their Xbox Live profile and information across multiple devices. The idea behind the service is that users will be able to play a game on their Xbox 360 and then pick up where they left off on their phone. Quite how this will work is unknown as this time. Microsoft also plan on releasing tie-in products such as mini-games that can offer bonus items in full console versions. Another interesting detail is that the service will allow gamers to use their smartphones as controllers for their Xbox 360.
EGM’s TAKE: While we’re all for being able to play our favorite games on the go, the limitations both graphically and from a control standpoint make us wonder if this will be more a novelty than a true advancement.
What do you think of the idea?
