Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor voice actors discuss the game’s narrative in behind-the-scenes trailer

Posted on August 8, 2014 AT 08:00am

One of the major storytelling draws of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Monolith Productions’ upcoming open-world action-RPG, is the interplay between the two “halves” of its protagonist. Talion, a Ranger of the Black Gate bent on revenge against Sauron, finds himself possessed by a Wraith, and while man and specter have some of the same goals, they aren’t on the same page in all matters.

In this behind-the-scenes trailer, Troy Baker, who plays Talion, and Alastair Duncan, who provides the voice of the Wraith, give some of their thoughts on playing the two “sides” of the main character and how the relationship between Talion and the specter will shape the game’s narrative from beginning to end.

One spoiler-related note: If you’d prefer to keep yourself in the dark on the true identity of the Wraith, you’ll want to skip this trailer.
