Microsoft has revealed a new Minecraft-themed augmented realty game for iOS and Android titled Minecraft Earth.

The upcoming free-to-play game will let players bring Minecraft creations into the real world, collect mobs, gather resources, take on challenges, and more.

As mentioned above, while exploring their neighborhoods, players will be able to discover and collect familiar and new mobs from the Minecraft universe. These mobs can then be used to populate builds. It won’t be all plain sailing though, as players can also encounter hostile mobs while exploring that they will have to battle.

Watch the announcement trailer below:

A beta for the game is scheduled to begin this summer on iOS and Android devices. Interested players can sign up now for chance to take part over on the game’s official website. Signing up for the beta will unlock the Minecraft Earth skin.
