Minecraft

Minecraft, perhaps the most ubiquitous game of the last decade, has just made a surprise jump onto another console: the New Nintendo 3DS.

Nintendo announced the port of the game during today’s Nintendo Direct, and it came with another surprise: This version of Minecraft will be available on the eShop later today, September 13th. A physical release will come later, at some unspecified date, but if you’re ready to jump in and start constructing a world right now, the digital version should be available before the end of the day.

This version of Minecraft comes with both Survival Mode and Creative Mode. Players who buy the game will find that it comes bundled with five skin packs and two texture packs to get started, and will feature both traditional and touchscreen controls for inventory management.

Note that this version of Minecraft is separate from the Nintendo Switch version, which launched last May.

Minecraft on the New 3DS should be available digitally by the time you’re reading this.
