Minecraft XBLA Trailer Showcases 4-Player Splitscreen

Microsoft has released a new trailer for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, which is set to release May 9.
This latest trailer takes a closer look at the game’s 2- and 4-player splitscreen co-op options. This is the defining feature for the 360 version, as local co-op isn’t available on PC due to logistical reasons. The fact that four friends can all get together and play—possibly with alcohol involved—will be a big draw for many. The 8-player online co-op’s also a nice addition; we imagine lots of crazy videos will start appearing online shortly after the game’s release.
For Minecraft to be a success on 360, Microsoft needs to give developer Mojang the freedom they need. If it takes them two weeks to push updates out—thanks to certification—the game may flop. Minecraft‘s all about quick bug fixes and constantly pushing new content. Will Microsoft risk lowering their barriers of entry? We certainly hope so.
Can Minecraft become a success on Xbox 360?
