Microsoft has announced that the Bedrock update will be coming to Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition on June 21st, 2018.
The update introduces cross-platform play support across Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Windows 10 PCs, Android devices, iOS phones and tablets, and VR, as well as support for achievements and Gamerscore.
Players on Nintendo Switch will also gain access to the Minecraft Marketplace for the first time, allowing them to purchase unique maps, skins, and texture packs from creators within the Minecraft community. All purchases will be available across every platform on which the Minecraft Marketplace is available.

“Bringing the definitive version of Minecraft to Nintendo Switch is a huge step forward in our journey to unite Minecraft players across any device,” Phil Spencer, head of gaming for Microsoft, said. “We’ve worked closely with Nintendo to bring an amazing experience to the Nintendo Switch system’s dynamic and rapidly-growing ecosystem and couldn’t be more excited to deliver what Minecraft players have been asking for.”
“This new version of Minecraft offers players even more options to play anytime and anywhere on Nintendo Switch,” Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime added. “With previously released content like the Super Mario Mash-Up included, players everywhere can experience what it’s like when Minecraft meets the Mushroom Kingdom!”
Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition owners will be able to upgrade to the new version of Minecraft for free. A physical version will also be available on the same day for $29.99.
