Several months after the game’s release, a U.K. watchdog has ruled that a TV advert for Modern Warfare 3 cannot be shown before 7:30pm.
Following complaints from viewers, the watchdog deemed the advert inappropriate for daytime viewing and put a time stamp on it. According to an ITV report, one viewer claimed that her two children, aged 2 and 4, were “frightened by the advert.”
The advert in question takes a selection of scenes from the game, including some showing fierce battles and buildings being destroyed. I don’t think that Activision will be too hurt by this decision considering that the Black Ops 2 adverts will be rolling out soon. Besides, their core market is out during the daytime, so an evening only ruling isn’t a bad thing.
